& The Holidays When you Have Hashimoto’s

Dear Reader,

First, I’d like to share my gluten free gravy recipe with you. It’s easy – aside from the making of the homemade broth base.

I found a good broth company called Kettle and Fire, and if you don’t have time to make it all from scratch, you could substitute in some of their quality broth, on a 1:1 ratio as the homemade.

Making broth from scratch is something I do twice a month so that I always have some in my freezer. My kitchen has become my happy place since starting The Rhythmic Lifestyle. I wish the same for you!

And now, the recipe.

Gluten Free Gravy Recipe

Ingredients

3 cups bone broth Recipe Here

3/4 cup Gluten Free Flour (Bob’s Red Mill 1:1 baking flour)

Method

Put all the ingredients into a sauce pan over medium high heat.

With a whisk, begin whisking. The key is NOT to step away. Keep whisking!

As it comes to a boil, you will feel the gravy thickening. Continue on whisking 🙂

After about 5 minutes total, you should feel the gravy become free of lumps, and reach a nice gravy consistency.

Pour directly into your gravy boat, or your glass storage container.

Enjoy right away, or put in the fridge for later.

Thank you for reading. At this time, I am counting my blog on my list of things that I’m grateful for.

I love writing it, and I appreciate all my readers!

Are you newly diagnosed with Hashimoto’s or another autoimmune disease?

Or have you had a diagnosis for a while?

When I was newly diagnosed, I still had no clue how much my diet was impacting my symptoms and autoimmune flare ups.

It’s not that my diet was terrible, I’d always thought of myself as a fairly healthy person.

The thing is, the modern diet is so full of processed sugars, oils and starches that most of us don’t even notice them anymore. It just seems normal.

Once I discovered the research that ties gluten sensitivity with Hashimoto’s and gut breakdown ( a precursor to autoimmunity in general), I began realizing how the Standard American diet wasn’t working for me.

I remember the first holiday season after I quit (8 years ago). It was hard.

Are you currently gluten free, or are you thinking of trying it?

Going to someone’s house for dinner can be terrifying.

It sounds so silly. But if you’re suffering from autoimmunity and you’re trying to be gluten free, it’s true!

Gluten hides everywhere in the modern diet. It’s in most of the sauces dishes people make over the holidays.

So please know that you’re not alone if you feel that way.

Nowadays I pack a food bag for myself before I go.

That way, I can relax once I’m there.

The turkey is usually gluten free, but you can always ask. It’s OK to be that person who just has to be asking about the gluten. You have autoimmunity, and you’re taking care of your health!

The mashed potatoes are usually safe, but I usually bring some of those as well, using ghee in place of butter & milk.

This gravy is a life saver. Pour it over your meal and enjoy.

Maybe a family member or friend would even like to try – it’s tasty.

Next week I’m going to take a break from the blog to celebrate the Holiday.

Wishing you and yours a warm and cozy time!

Yoga Poses Are calming and healing. When I return I will send out a blog about Yoga.
