According to Ayurveda everything in the universe is connected. All the ecosystems – from the vast cosmos to the backyard garden – interconnect, including the ones in our own bodies. True health is achieved when the inner ecosystems within the body are in balance.

Ayurveda is the sister science to Yoga. Both are based on the ancient texts called the Vedas, originating in India thousands of years ago.

What might people who lived thousands of years ago have to offer us, in this modern world?

The texts were written by folks called Rishis. They played an important role in this ancient culture. They were the cultural creators; they were seers, and they worked with the power of cosmic intelligence.

They strove to create a society that was peaceful and that honored each persons’ individual purpose. Seeking to live healthy lives free of disease was one of their aims, and helping others do the same, was their mission.

Their teachings are still relevant today because the Vedas invite each of us to awaken the ‘rishi’, or seer, within ourselves. Ayurveda means the science of life. It shows us how to work with nature and natural rhythms to attain perfect health, something that seems to be in the spotlight right now. How healthy am I is a question many of us are asking.

Ayurveda offers lifestyle adjustments that support us in uncovering the healthiest version of ourselves. Because of this, it seems to be more relevant than ever.
